currently i'm developing project pixelsense/surface 2.0/sur40. i'm wondering if possible slide scatterviewitems table. me intuitive way close item. default scatterviewitems bounce edges of screen. @ moment i'm closing items 2 buttons secure item isn't accidentally closed.

could check svi's center property? or combine center property trigonometry find corners. during manipulation event check if center or corners have fallen off edge of scatterview.
i believe you're not allowed push more 85% of visible area of svi off scatterview. meaning can't push way off table, there'll little corner left grab again. ui standpoint though, you'd have instruct people throw things off, , i've found surfaces pretty jumpy , easy move things in ways don't want. i'd stick button unless audience comfortable figuring things out on fly.
