why error when writing select statement - note space/tab/newline next table name "personnel number" (i know naming convention bad, had it, since way excel spreadsheet looks have import regularly table)

it's obvious column name contains trailing line feed. if you're absolutely sure it's not possible rename columns, i'm not aware of other way type line feed in column literal 1 use:
select md.[personnel number ] in case, have strong feeling there's bug in import code. suspect column last 1 in line, you've set \n line separator file uses \r\n.
