i have been using enthought canopy distribution (academic license) last few weeks. have used package manager install packages.
but today when tried install scikit learn showed following error message "takes no argument 1 given". infact problem there if try install other packages. tried upgrade few packages, showed same error.
have changed setting mistake or issue software?
i encountered same problem in both canopy gui , on command line (epkg) on os x 10.8 32-bit version. part of reply got enthought support team:
this looks familiar bug should have been fixed.
could please update 1.0.1.1191, , if problem still occurs, submit bug report canopy menu can gather more system information?
only problem is, running 1.0.1.1190, , help/software updates... claims there no newer version available. informed support of this, , report have more information on or solution problem.

planning document exact error message, went command line , invoked epkg, did work:
$ enpkg
enstaller out of date. update? ([y]/n) y
enstaller-4.6.1-2.egg
[fetching] 264 kb [.................................................................]enstaller-4.6.1-2.egg
[installing] 755 kb [.................................................................]enstaller has been updated. please re-run previous command.
i can install , update packages via enpkg or canopy gui.
